Note
  • Sumatran randai theater is a composite dance-drama form, similar to Indian kathakali or Japanese kabuki, in which acted scenes alternate with martial arts dances (galombang) accompanied by songs and flute music. Until recently an all-male performance with female impersonators playing women's roles, randai has begun to integrate women as performers.
