Local Note
Accompanied by letter from Lord George Gordon to Maurice Margarot, dated "Newgate Prison, Thursday evening"; presenting his compliments and asking Margarot to call. Gordon was confined in Newgate from 1788 to his death in 1793. The letter, a separate slip with the address, and a ms. note signed "Clio" (who states that he used to visit Gordon at his home and in Newgate) are mounted on a sheet tipped in inside the front cover, with more ms. annotations relating to Gordon and Margarot.
