Summary
Dancer-choreographer Danny Grossman describes how he became a choreographer and his special approach to choreography, which involved creating his own movement vocabulary. He discusses how the roles of dancer and choreographer may or may not overlap, the inspiration he finds in music and the visual arts, and the growth of his dances over time. Discussions of individual dance works, illustrated by excerpts performed in the studio, include Ecce homo, to the music of Bach ; Inches (?), to music from Zimbabwe ; Magneto-dynamo ; and the antiwar work Endangered species, inspired by the artwork of Käthe Kollwitz and George Grosz.
