- Summary
- History of modern dance in Mexico, illustrated by b&w archival footage, still photographs, and performance excerpts in color. The discussion includes individuals and organizations who played significant roles in the formation of Mexican modern dance, among them Guillermina Bravo, founder of Ballet Nacional de México; Raúl Flores Canelo, founder of Ballet Independiente; Michel Descombey and Gladiola Orozco, directors of Ballet Teatro del Espacio; Anna Sokolow; and José Limón. The program also includes a survey of contemporary groups and individuals of note, among them Barro Rojo, Contradanza, Teatro del Cuerpo, Contempodanza, Pilar Medina, and Antares.
