- Compiled in 1857 by James Veech from traditions and notes collected by Freeman Lewis, and printed, but not published, in the same year. A few copies of the sheets were made up and given to friends by Mr. Veech; his own copy and the Hayden copy (in the N.Y.P.L.) have the names of both authors on the title-page, as originally planned, and the imprint: Pittsburg, 1860. The present copy is another issue of the original sheets (p. [17]-240), with a new title and the addition of p. 241-259, which
