Summary
Scenes from an intertribal Native American powwow. The following categories of competitive dances are represented: teen girls' jingle dress, teen boys' northern traditional, Golden Age (men and women), adult women fancy shawl, adult women traditional cloth, adult men grass dance, adult women northern traditional, adult men southern fancy, tiny tots (girls and boys), teen women's fancy shawl, adult men northern traditional, adult men northern fancy. Other performances include Eskimo dances and music by the Kicaput Singers & Dancers ; music by the Rio Grande Singers with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra ; the gourd dance ; and a hoop dance solo by Derrick "Suwaima" Davis. The program also includes highlights of the Miss Indian World contest, and numerous interviews with powwow performers and observers, among them singer-dancer Yvette Glover.
