- Summary
- Documentary on the powwow experience, beginning with arrival at the site, setting up camp, donning regalia and participating in various activities (dancing, music-making, eating, selling and shopping for handicrafts and other items). Powwow participants, speaking in on-camera interviews and voiceovers, provide general information about powwows, and share personal experiences and observations. Dance sequences include a grand entry, including dancers dressed for the men's traditional dance, grass dance, women's traditional dance, jingle dress dance, fancy dance, and shawl dance ; the "sneak-up" dance ; and intertribal dancing. Musicians discuss songs and drumming, and their significance in Native American culture.
