- Description
- 1 videocassette (45 min.) : sd., col. NTSC; 1/2 in. (VHS)
- Summary
- Documentary about Opera Atelier, a Toronto-based company dedicated to the production of Baroque operas. Its artistic directors, Marshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Zingg, talk about their approach to reviving a forgotten repertory and giving new life to stylistic qualities of the past. Practical considerations, such as the means of financing their work, are also discussed. Their company is seen in rehearsal and performance excerpts from Jeremiah Clarke's Ode on the death of Henry Purcell, and Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, and The fairy queen.
