His company, the Ballet du XXe Siècle, is seen in performance excerpts of Ninth symphony, his well-received ballet to the music of Beethoven. The program then focuses on Béjart's production of La tentation de Saint Antoine, starring Jean Louis Barrault, which is seen in rehearsal and performance in Paris.
