- Summary
- Collection consists of individual and group portraits of painter Charles White, including two undated studio portraits of White, one in his studio and one posing with his work; a candid shot of him pointing out one of his paintings at the ACA Gallery, New York City (1952); in a group portrait, with his wife, Frances, artist Ernest Crichlow and writer Robert Lissauer, at an unidentified gallery exhibit (n.d.); with a group of artists, including Harry Sternberg, Viktor Lowenfeld and Hale Woodruff, at the unvailing of White's mural at the Hampton Institute, Virginia (n.d); and with his friends Crichlow, Dorothy Spencer, Louis Burnham, of the Southern Negro Youth Congress, and artist Jacob Lawrence, at a send-off party for White at 409 Edgecomb Ave., Harlem (1947).
