First edition; one of about 40 copies printed on vellum and presented to individuals. This copy has the title in three lines instead of the usual four and has the picture of Wilhelmus a Rosenberg below it and his arms on the verso.
A poem by Maximilian I, emperor of Germany, and his secretaries Melchior Pfintzing and Marx Treitz-Saurwein.
Illustrated with woodcuts (hand colored in this copy) by Hans Schäufelein, Leonhard Beck, Hans Burgkmair, and others.
The first word of the colophon has been erased.
Binding, 16th century German, of blind stamped white leather over wooden boards; with metal clasps, corner pieces and bosses.
