  • The "De antiquitate" was probably translated during the sixth century at the instance of Cassiodorus Senator, although the translation has been wrongly attributed to Epiphanus Scholasticus and to Rufinus Aquileiensis who probably prepared this literal translation of the "De bello."--cf. British museum catalogue, and Teuffel, W.S. ...History of Roman literature. London, 1891-92. v. 2, [section symbol]435¹ and 483¹¹.
