  • Typographical description of original: Blockbook, printed probably in Germany, ca. 1470. Text (an epitome of I-II Samuel and I Kings I-II) in Gothic lettering. Printed in brown ink on one side of leaf on opposite pages, each signature from a single block. Each page comprises four compartments (the two upper containing illustrations, the two lower, text) each within single-line border. (On 15 pages the lines are extended across the ends of the narrow spaces separating the compartments, to form a continuous border; on 8 pages the lines are extended in the center to form a complete or partial square.) With initials and signature marks; without foliation.
