- An American beauty was first performed at the Star Theatre, Buffalo, N.Y., Sept. 25-26, 1896. From October to December 1896, the Lillian Russell Opera Company toured the show in the eastern United States, including Miss Russell's home town, Clinton, Iowa, at the Davis Opera House, Oct. 24, 1896. New York City performances were at the Casino, Dec. 28, 1896-Feb. 27, 1897, and the Harlem Opera House, March 15-20, 1897.
