- An imaginary plea written by Bishop William Fleetwood concerning the divorce case of Sir George Downing and his wife, Mary Forester Downing. This divorce had a lot of publicity because Douwning was married at the age of fifteen to Mary Forester, then thirteen, without the consent of Downing's father, who was mentally disabled. Cf.
