Traces the long and colorful life of the legendary blues singer and jazz vocalist Alberta Hunter, who began singing in Chicago in 1912 as a teenager and enjoyed a forty-year career. Tells how she then disappeared from public life and staged a comeback at the age of eighty-two. Includes interviews with her and footage showing her in performance at The Cookery in New York's Greenwich Village in the 1980s, interspersed with archival photographs and historical footage.
