- Description
- 1 streaming video file (95 min.) : sd., col. with b&w sequences.
- Summary
- Beginning with a pilgrimage made by dance critic René Sirvin to the grave of Rudolf Nureyev in the cemetery of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, the program explores the parallels between Nureyev and the choreographer Marius Petipa, and the decisive role played in Nureyev's life by Petipa's ballets. The many dance excerpts illustrate Petipa ballets that Nureyev performed, staged, directed, or supplemented with his own choreography. This video tribute was first screened at the Palais Chaillot Theatre (Cinémathèque Française), Paris, on June 17, 1996, and at the Alliance Française, New York, on June 25, 1996.
