- This protest of Van Dam against George Clarke's refusal to deliver to him the commission and instructions of the late Governor Cosby was later published (with a declaration "at a meeting of the members of that Assembly that stood adjourned, by their own adjournment, to the last Tuesday of March last," dated April 29, 1736) with title: Copy of a letter from Rip Van Dam, esq; to the several members of that General Assembly of New-York, that stood adjourned to the last Tuesday of March, 1736.
