- Based on ms. latin 16663 of the Bibliothèque nationale, hitherto available only in Edmond de Coussemaker's Scriptores de musica medii aevi, 1864, v. 1, p. 1-153. cf. Vorwort. A compilation, more than half of which was taken from Boethius ("De musica") It includes a revision of most of "De musica" by Joannes Cotton, and passages from Isidorus of Seville, Alfärabi, Richard of St. Victor and Thomas Aquinas. In the second part, the treatises on measured music by Joannes de Garlandia, Franco de Colonia and Petrus Picardus are given in full. cf. p. xxiv.
