News report on Rudolf Nureyev's return to Russia, 28 years after his defection. In addition to the interview footage, Nureyev is seen practicing in the Kirov Ballet's studios ; touring the Hermitage art museum ; being reunited with his first ballet teacher, Anna Ivanovna Udeltsova [erroneously called Anna Ivanova on tape] ; and revisiting the Kirov Ballet School, where he studied. He is then seen in rehearsal and performance footage of La sylphide, with Zhanna Ayupova and other members of the Kirov Ballet.
