Summary

Tribute to Pepito Avellaneda (pseud. of José Domingo Monteleone), a noted Argentinian dancer and teacher of the milonga. Avellaneda himself looks back on his long career and talks about his love of dancing. His contemporaries, including his partner Suzuky Avellaneda and his fellow dancers, comment on his mastery of the dance and contributions to the field. The many dance excerpts depict Avellaneda in action on the dance floor with Suzuky Avellaneda and other partners. Scenes from the Homenaje a Pepe [Homage to Pepe], held in Gricel, Buenos Aires, in 1993, show the celebration of his fiftieth anniversary as a dancer ; among the attendees was American actor Robert Duvall, a tango aficionado.
