Summary
  • Ishvani discusses Hindu dance: its origins, religious mythology, symbolism, body positions and gestures. She describes the role of the different body parts involved; different styles of Hindu dance; the influence of British Culture on Hindu dance, religious beliefs and costuming; the development of form and movements within the dances and the development of new dances; the influence of Hindu dance on other cultures and dance forms including modern dance and Martha Graham technique; and her future performances. In an additional segment, they discuss the government sponsorship and scholarship for dance in India; dancing schools; the custom of removing shoes.
