- Cassette 1. Mr. Singh discusses the origins and goals of the Rajkumari Cultural Center; the origins of dances performed in Guyana; the migration from India to the Caribbean and the effects on culture; Nagara dancing; forms of dance that he considers at risk of disappearing; men and woman in dance; various performers; the mela of East India; the relationship between music and dance. Mr. Singh describes his family, his artistic and cultural lineage and history; changes in dance forms in response to the expectations of western theater; changes in cultural identity.
