- Description
- 1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (11 min.) : si., b&w; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- Ballet pas de six in peasant costume, possibly from August Bournonville's dances for Gioacchino Rossini's opera William Tell, choreographed in 1842. Hans Brenaa staged the pas de six for several companies prior to or in 1971, including the Joffrey Ballet (March 1969, titled William Tell variations), the Scottish Theatre Ballet (July 1970, titled Dances from William Tell), and the Ballet de Flandres (December 1971, titled Pas de six). The ballet company depicted in this film has not yet been identified with certainty ; the dancers' costumes in the film do not match those in photographs published with reviews of the Joffrey and Scottish Theatre Ballet productions. At the end of the film, Rudolf Nureyev (who does not dance in this ballet) is glimpsed for a few seconds in his dressing room.
