Osbert Salvin had intended to publish a fuller account of the petrels, illustrated by colored figures. Some 40 plates were prepared. After his death the work was carried on by Godman, with the assistance of R.B. Sharpe, whose daughters colored the plates. Cf. Pref. and Anker.
