  • "The illustrations on the half-titles to each volume were drawn by Richard Flavin and appeared originally in Nagashizuki, by Timothy Barrett, Bird & Bull Press, 1979. The illustrations which precede Kamisuki taigai and A papermaking village, are derived from two of the stencilled endpapers by Keisuke Serizawa in the original volumes. The lettering on Tindale's obituary and on the woodcut frontispiece is by Tetsu-Zan, and means 'the beauty of Japanese paper.' The paper used for the various half-titles is either Thai Kozo, Unryu, or handmade Sekishu. The paper used for the frontispiece is Zerkall Ingres"--Page facing colophon.
