- Summary
- Yola's life is changed forever when a landmine explodes under her. She survives, but loses a leg in the blast. The 13-year-old is approached by an organization that arranges for her to go to a hospital in Ireland to get a prosthetic leg, and she stays there for a year to attend school. When she returns home she begins working to educate her people about the dangers of landmines and soon finds herself caught in the middle of an arms-smuggling scheme. Suggested level: intermediate, junior secondary.
