- Summary
- Profile of Rudolf Nureyev, featuring interview footage intercut with a montage of his recent activities onstage and off in New York, Paris, and Washington, D.C. Interview topics center around his longevity as a dancer, his frenetic schedule of performances, and his compulsive need to perform. An excerpt from George Balanchine's ballet Le bourgeois gentilhomme is seen in alternating rehearsal and performance clips, danced by Nureyev with the Paris Opéra Ballet. Other performance excerpts include the male variation from Le corsaire pas de deux ; the bedroom scene from the 1966 film of Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet, danced by Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn ; and the coda of the grand pas de deux of Nureyev's version of The nutcracker.
