Summary
"A collaborative presentation of regional Mexican music and dance, with puppets and masks, featuring Mexican artists from Mexico, California, and New York." The first part of the program (on cassette 1) presents examples of the "son jaliscense" and the modern mariachi, followed by a play representing Mexican street theater. The second part of the program (cassette 2), subtitled "Son de México," presents music from two rural traditions, the "son arribeño" (performed by Guillermo Velázquez y Los Leones de la Sierra de Xichú) and the "son jarocho" (performed by Conjunto Hueyapan). The dance company Estampas y Tradiciones performs in both halves of the program.
