- Summary
- [Commercials and announcements] Feinstein gives background information on the Stuttgart Ballet and its choreographer, John Cranko. Haydée discusses the dancers in the company and how Cranko developed them; explains her philosophy with respect to choosing dancers and choreographers as well as her role as director of the company; discusses Cranko's musical choices in his ballet Eugene Onegin [music]; Feinstein describes the current season of the Stuttgart Ballet in Washington, D.C and N.Y., N.Y. Haydée and Feinstein compare private funding versus government subsidy in their role on a dance company's flexibility, time to develop dancers and dances, risks it is able to undertake and resources for performances.Haydée describes MacMillan's Requiem [music, announcements, news, weather and commercials]. Feinstein considers the popularity of dance in relation to expenses of dance companies and cost of performances. Haydée describes her role in Cranko's Taming of the shrew; William Forsythe's role in the company and his piece Daphne, set to the music of Dvořák [music and announcements].
