- Report on dance events in Russia including a new ballet school in St. Petersburg, Cantilena, headed by Nikita Dalgushin with Alla Osipenko teaching; in Moscow, Mikhail Lavrovsky opened his own ballet college. St. Petersburg Male Ballet performed in the October Concert Hall in choreography of Christopher Fleming, Season ticket and Self-reflections. John Neumeier staged three works in St. Petersburg, Now and then, Spring and fall and a new, not-yet-titled work. Also, Farukh Ruzimatov celebrated the 20th anniversary of his performing career on Jan. 30, Irma Nioradze danced the role of Manon for the first time, Vadim Gaevsky's new book The home of Marius Petipa was published and the Maryinsky Theatre opened its own recording studio.
