Glasner speaks about her early dance training in Wisconsin and the National Academy of Dance in Champaign/Urbana and at the North Carolina School of the Arts; joining Twyla Tharp's company in 1978; dissolution of Tharp's company and teaching at the Princeton Ballet School for 12 years, beginning in 1986; teaching dance at Barnard, where she is currently a faculty member; discussion of gender discrepancies in the world at large and in the dance world in particular with reference to Tharp; discussion of extent and manner in which gender has affected Glasner's career and her teaching of dance; compensation disparities between male and female dance faculty at Barnard; discussion of the tensions between pursuing a dance career and having a family.
