- Summary
- Documentary on the world of competitive ballroom dancing, highlighting two couples: the established champions Ralf and Olga Müller, from Germany, and the rising Canadian dancers Claude Crevier and Kathy McCraw. The camera follows them from rehearsals and coaching sessions to various competitions: the Blackpool Dance Festival in England, the Canadian Amateur Latin Championship in Toronto, and the 1996 World Latin Championship in Kassel, Germany. Crevier and McCraw also perform, for a potential sponsor, an impromptu dance in the street during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga. A parallel story describes the striving of the International Dance Sport Federation (IDSF) to convince the International Olympic Committee that ballroom dancing should become an Olympic sport. Depicted among the IDSF's efforts are a promotional video and glimpses of official meetings and negotiations. The competitive and athletic aspects of ballroom dancing, and its lucrative business potential are primary topics of this program.
