- The t.p. (A2) is a cancel. The original t.p. was dated 1760 and read: Tancrede : tragédie, en vers et en cinq actes ... Le prix est de trente sols. Cf. BN, col. 804, no. 1502.
- Later state of the first edition, with the usual cancels in sigs. A and B. Distinguished from a rev. ed. with the same cancel t.p. (issued later in 1761) by the absence of a date following the dedication, the inclusion of actors' names in the cast list (headed "Acteurs" here; "Personnages" in the rev. ed.), and other points. Cf. Henderson, siglum 61P3; Henderson, John S. Voltaire's Tancrède. 1968. p. 51-81 and Appendices I-V, VIII.
- This copy includes typographical variants in sigs. C-F representing states designated by Henderson (in Voltaire's Tancrède) as "C-3," "D-4," "E-2" and "F-3," and the later of two states noted by him for the 2 cancels in sig. B. For differences from copies in BN, cf. Henderson, Voltaire's Tancrède, Appendix V, copies 61a-b, d-f.
- Signatures: A⁸ (±A2,5) B⁸ (±B3,7) C-E⁸ F⁶ [superscript chi]A⁸. Leaves A3,4 signed "Aij," "Aiij."
- Illustrations: 3 prints : engraving ; full-page. Comprise frontispiece port. of Voltaire, after M.Q. de La Tour, and 2 ill. signed: L.P. delin., P.F. Tardieu sculp (later state of 2nd ill., with the artist's initials corrected from "L.R.").
- Woodcut t.p. ornament (cluster of flowers with bunch of grapes); ornamental head- and tailpieces.
- Publisher's advertisements: 16 p. at end (not present in some copies).
- Provenance: P.P. Garnier (autograph, dated May 1816); Francis M. Weld (autograph, dated 1950). Some ms. annotations, perhaps in the hand of Garnier, in the dedication.
