Summary

This volume is a collection of the speeches and writings of Neil Rudenstine delivered or written between 1991 and 2001. President Rudenstine delivered the speeches at events both within and without Harvard's walls. Events included commencements and convocations, honorary degree and other award ceremonies, anniversaries, building dedications, exhibition openings, conferences and meetings, and memorial services. Other works in this volume are testimony before Congress and open letters and statements to the Harvard community.

• Neil L. Rudenstine (b. 1935) began his service as President of Harvard University on July 1, 1991. In May of 2000, he announced that he would leave Harvard at the end of the 2000/2001 academic year.
