- Each part (no.) in the original illustrated bluish green or green paper covers, as issued. Title page (dated 1838) and other preliminaries in pt. 26. Publisher's advertisements on p. [4] of covers of pts. 14-18 and 20-26, referring to publication of Chapman and Hall's ed. of Sketches by Boz (1837-1839) as beginning "on the 1st November next."
- Edgar & Vail give date as "1836-8" and state that the work was issued in "26 monthly parts."
- Title and statement of responsibility on covers of parts: The posthumous papers of the Pickwick Club, containing a faithful record of the perambulations, perils, travels, adventures and sporting transactions of the corresponding members. Edited by "Boz." With illustrations.
