- Each part in the original red glazed paper boards, with green or blue gilt labels; spines repaired with matching cloth. Title pages, dated 1824, in pt. 10. Added engraved title pages for v. 1, dated 1822, in pt. 5 and for v. 2, dated 1823, in pt. 10. Also in pt. 10 engraved dedication to King George IV.
- "Address" signed: Edward Walmsley.
- Each part has special t.p. engraved by Robert Ashby.
- Illustrations: 108 prints : engraving ; full-page. Comprise added illustrated title pages; dedication, with port. engraved by C. Armstrong; 100 ports. and 5 cancelled ports., engraved by J.T. Wedgwood, C. Armstrong, C. Pye, E. Smith and others. Mounted proofs on India paper.
- The text consists of biographical notes in English and French. Part 1 is in smaller type, but reappears at the end of pt. 3 in the same type as the other parts.
- Printed slips pasted on the inner front cover of most parts, detailing changes in the order, delays in engraving and commenting on the forthcoming part. Publisher's advertisement ([1] p.) inserted in pt. 3.
