- Summary
- Cassette 1. Side A (ca. 30 min.). The music for De Mille's ballet Black ritual, titled Création du monde by Darius Milhaud, is played during the first 15 minutes of the recording. William Litter interviews De Mille. She speaks of her performing career and perception of herself as a choreographer and how she began [tape cuts off suddenly]. Side B (ca. 25 min.). The overture to the musicial comedy Oklahoma is played. De Mille discusses the devlopment of her work, from Rodeo to Oklahoma; her piece Fall river legend; the music for Fall river legend by Martin Gould is played.
- Cassette 2. Side A (ca. 20 min.). Music from Rodeo is played. De Mille discusses her first experiences choreographing, leading up to her creation of Rodeo. Side B (ca. 25 min.). De Mille discusses her interest in story telling; her response to negative critical opinion; her stroke; Heritage Dance Theatre; her writing; social dancing; the future of ballet.
