- Side A [begins abruptly]. Mumaw speaks about Ted Shawn, including his works Persians and Three brothers [and O brother sun and sister moon?]; Shawn's awareness of space; Shawn and the Delsarte technique; reasons for the broad appeal of the Denishawn Dancers; difficulty of communicating the Delsarte principles; more on Shawn and Delsarte's teachings, including the concepts of tension and relaxation; role of physical education teachers in fostering modern dance; Shawn's adaptation of ballet combinations; further description of the influence of Delsarte's principles on Shawn and his career, including his relationship with Ruth St. Denis [recording ends abruptly].
