  • Consists of ms. t.p., with mounted stipple-engraved port. of Cruikshank by F.W. Pailthorpe; 36 chine collé prints on India paper, each containing 4-8 subjects (156 subjects in all); and sheet (2 p.) with ms. notes and pencil drawings for 1836, signed: "G. Cruikshank, early sketch."

  • A complete set of undivided proofs on India paper of Cruikshank's etchings for The comic almanack (issues for 1835-1853) was issued by Pickering & Chatto, probably in the 1880s.
  • Plate marks: 22 x 35 cm.; sheets 21 x 34 cm.; secondary supports 31 x 44 cm.
  • Interleaved with cutout sheets of stiff paper, serving as mats.
  • Binding: Dark green morocco, gilt, by Riviere & Son.
