Summary

Recording made at a rehearsal/photo shoot for the Broadway production of the musical Gypsy, which was directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Robbins appears in this footage along with his creative collaborators Arthur Laurents, Jule Styne, and Stephen Sondheim; and performers Ethel Merman (who played the role of Rose), Sandra Church (Louise), Jack Klugman (Herbie), Jacqueline Mayro (Baby June), Karen Moore (Baby Louise), dancer Carole D'Andrea, and others. The real-life heroine of the musical, Gypsy Rose Lee, pays a visit to the theater and has her picture taken with Merman and Church. Parts of this footage are shown, and described by Lee, in her interview with Ethel Merman on *MGZIA 4-6029 JRC [Ethel Merman] and NCOX 1514.
