- Description
- 2 videocassettes (VHS, NTSC) (130 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
- Summary
- Run-through of the ballet, recorded a few days prior to its premiere on October 8, 1992. There are occasional pauses and gaps in the recording, and sections of the choreography are sometimes marked rather than danced full-out. The dancer performing the Bronze Idol in Act II does not appear, although his music is played. The women's ensemble dance with fans in Act II is repeated, and Elisabeth Platel, playing Gamzatti, marks her turns the second time. Patricia Ruanne (in white rehearsal clothes), who assisted Rudolf Nureyev in the choreography and staging of the ballet, watches from a position downstage, and occasionally moves among the dancers. At the end of the recording Nureyev is briefly glimpsed in the auditorium, accompanied by Gloria Venturi, Marie-Suzanne Soubi, Ninel Kurgapkina, and Barry Joule.
