- Summary
- Jerome Robbins, assisted by ballet master Christine Redpath, directs a rehearsal of excerpts from Variations on I'm old fashioned. The soloist's part in the twelfth variation, nicknamed Fugue, is rehearsed for approximately 12 minutes. The sixth variation, a solo nicknamed Bongo, is rehearsed for the remainder of the tape. Robbins gives corrections, discusses and demonstrates choreography.

- Variations on I'm old fashioned, also known as Astaire variations, is a ballet tribute to Fred Astaire, with music by Morton Gould, based on Jerome Kern's song I'm old fashioned, from the motion picture You were never lovelier (Columbia, 1942). It was performed as part of New York City Ballet's festival of Jerome Robbins' ballets in June 1990.
