Description
1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (23 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
Jerome Robbins directs a rehearsal of a dance nicknamed Back to back, which was cut from the final version of Variations on I'm old fashioned. For the beginning of this rehearsal, see *MGZIA 4-6103 and *MGZIA 4-6138. After the dancers leave, Robbins talks with composer Morton Gould and pianist Richard Moredock. They discuss the opening of the ballet; the challenge of remaining close to the spirit of the Astaire dance on which the ballet is based without becoming repetitive musically; and possible changes in the ordering and selection of the variations. Gould plays excerpts from the variations. For the remainder of this conversation, see *MGZIA 4-6193 and *MGZIA 4-6194.
