- Summary
- The tape begins during a rehearsal break. Jerome Robbins marks out steps alone, then discusses Morton Gould's music with pianist Richard Moredock. The remainder of the tape contains a rehearsal of a dance nicknamed Back to back, which was cut from the final version of the ballet. - Variations on I'm old fashioned is a ballet tribute to Fred Astaire, with music by Morton Gould, based on Jerome Kern's song I'm old fashioned, from the motion picture You were never lovelier (Columbia, 1942). The ballet premiered on June 16, 1983.
- This tape is one of 36 made between Sept. and Nov. 1982 for a projected documentary on the making of I'm old fashioned. DeWitt Sage, Joel Gold and John Goberman were involved in the project, which was never produced.
