Summary

Jerome Robbins directs a rehearsal of excerpts from Variations on I'm old fashioned. The fourth variation, a pas de deux, is rehearsed to a series of different musical variations. Bart Cook and pianist Richard Moredock discuss the music during a break in the rehearsal. The first variation, a pas de deux, is rehearsed by Joseph Duell and Judith Fugate. A dance nicknamed Back to back, which was cut from the final version of the ballet, is rehearsed. For the first part of this rehearsal, see *MGZIA 4-6164. • Variations on I'm old fashioned is a ballet tribute to Fred Astaire, with music by Morton Gould, based on Jerome Kern's song I'm old fashioned, from the motion picture You were never lovelier (Columbia, 1942). The ballet premiered on June 16, 1983.
• This tape is one of 36 made between Sept. and Nov. 1982 for a projected documentary on the making of I'm old fashioned. DeWitt Sage, Joel Gold and John Goberman were involved in the project, which was never produced.
