- Summary
- Robbins works with Morton Gould on the music for Variations on I'm old fashioned. Gould plays the first two variations on the piano while Robbins runs a videotape of a New York City Ballet rehearsal (see *MGZIA 4-6050) of the same variations, a pas de deux by Joseph Duell and Judith Fugate, which became the first variation in the ballet, and a pas de deux by Christopher D'Amboise and Darci Kistler, which was cut from the final version of the ballet.

- Variations on I'm old fashioned is a ballet tribute to Fred Astaire, with music by Morton Gould, based on Jerome Kern's song I'm old fashioned, from the motion picture You were never lovelier (Columbia, 1942). The ballet premiered on June 16, 1983.
- This tape is one of 36 made between Sept. and Nov. 1982 for a projected documentary on the making of I'm old fashioned. DeWitt Sage, Joel Gold and John Goberman were involved in the project, which was never produced.
