- Summary
- Excerpt of a television documentary about Japanese Nō plays. The credits and beginning of the program are missing on the tape. An actor demonstrates gestures while a narrator explains their meaning in Nō drama. The actor demonstrates how the expression of masks can be changed by their position. The actor is shown dressing, and then performs a dance from the Nō play Hagoromo. The documentary ends with a filmed excerpt from the Nō play Ikkaku sennin. Credits for the film (not for the documentary as a whole) appear at the end. This documentary was recorded for study purposes by the American Theater Laboratory.

- American Theatre Laboratory was created in 1966 by Jerome Robbins, with a $300,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The experimental theater workshop rehearsed several projects and created many exercises, but did not produce any shows. Much of its work involved the use of masks and was influenced by Japanese Nō drama. American Theatre Laboratory disbanded in 1968.
