Summary
The subject of this film trailer is Chakra: a celebration of India, a 1991 project organized by Jacques D'Amboise and the National Dance Institute. Five girls from Madras, India performed the piece with New York City schoolchildren. Trudy Chan and Ryan McCormack, two American students who performed the lead roles in the show, talk about their introduction to Indian dance and are shown interacting with the Indian children in a cultural exchange program. There are clips of rehearsals, some featuring D'Amboise, and of the performance of Chakra.
