- [Contains extraneous noise.] Robbins discusses his conception of Jerome Robbins' Broadway and its production; his research methodology and dance selection process; the casting and logistics of the show; his efforts at choreographic reconstruction; restaging his dances; the use of memory in dance reconstruction; the training and skills of contemporary dancers; auditioning and casting the show; later changes made to the structure of the show; leaving Broadway to work in ballet [inaudible comments]; his perfectionism; the audience reaction to his work; the personal meaning he attaches to individual dance numbers; the effect of the costumes on the perception of the original material; his childhood and early influences; auditioning and getting his first job on Broadway; the influence of choreographer Senia Gluck-Sandor on his career; his transition from dancer to choreographer and his early interest in both dancing and choreography; choreographing the ballet Fancy Free (1944) and then taking it to Broadway as a musical; his interest in doing further work on Broadway; concluding remarks on his show and the audience reaction to it.
